Why We Give
Living Generously
The stewardship of our financial gifts is what helps this congregation participate in God’s mission through the ministries of Faith Lutheran Church and around the world. We understand our regular giving toward the commitments of the congregation to take place through the general fund.
Giving our money to a congregation is not about meeting a budget. It is first and foremost a spiritual discipline of taking seriously the fact that our resources are first and foremost God’s gifts, and we have a biblical invitation to use a portion of those resources for God’s work in the world.
Christians are called to give from the top of our blessings, not the bottom. Faith Lutheran encourages people to work to grow their household’s total charitable giving to attain the biblical tithe, 10 percent of income. Of this total, members are invited to give to the church what gives them joy to share. Such intentionality and thoughtfulness is part of the joy of a faith-filled and God-centered life. In turn, the congregation sets an example by well-exceeding the biblical tithe in its benevolent giving.
Every gift given to God’s work through the church is a welcome gift, particularly when it is shared with deep love and gratitude to God.
