What We Believe
Faith Lutheran is Christ's church.
There is a place for you here.
Faith Lutheran Church is a multigenerational congregation that strives to be a community where faith and friendships are nurtured in a safe, accepting, and affirming space. Saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, we live out our baptismal promises as we worship, learn, and serve together. All have a place at God’s table of grace and are welcome to participate in the ministry of Jesus which we share.
GOD’S MISSION
God’s mission is to bless, love and save the world.
PURPOSE of FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH
Called by Jesus, we worship God and are led by faith to love and serve all people.
CORE VALUES
Worship God
We hear the word of God and receive God’s gift of grace through the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
We proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed.
We respond through music, words, and prayers that draw on our Lutheran tradition and influences around the world.
Grow in Faith
We provide opportunities for people of all ages to grow in faith, hope and love.
We see daily life as the primary setting for the work of ministry.
Foster Community
We live among God’s faithful people, caring for and forgiving one another.
We welcome, honor and affirm all of God’s children, including those of every racial identity, ethnicity, citizenship, age, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic status, and station in life.
Live Generously
We steward the gifts God has abundantly given and entrusted to us – God’s creation, our time, abilities, and financial resources.
Serve All
We serve all people following the example of Jesus.
We strive for justice and peace in all the earth.
WHAT LUTHERANS BELIEVE
Faith Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and of the Southeastern Iowa Synod. The ELCA is one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States, with about 4 million members in nearly 10,000 congregations across the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Lutherans confess the Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In our preaching and teaching, we trust the Gospel (Good News of Jesus Christ) as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe.
What is the good news? God loves us unconditionally. This love, called grace, is free. God’s love, made known through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, frees us to love and serve our neighbors.
