Advent 2025
This Advent, we journey with hearts attuned to the quiet paradox of Christ’s coming — both humble and holy. In a world that often seeks grandeur and power, our Savior arrives in simplicity: a child born in a manger, a servant King.
While Luke’s Gospel doesn’t mention a donkey on the journey to Bethlehem, we often imagine Mary and Joseph traveling that way—a humble mode of transportation for such a holy purpose. This image connects to Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on a donkey, which was in fulfillment of the prophecy from Zechariah 9, “Tell the daughter of Zion, See, your King comes to you, meek and riding on a donkey, and on a colt the foal of a donkey.”
Jesus’ life and ministry began and ended humble and holy: from his conception and birth to the cross on Good Friday.
As we wait and watch, we are called to reflect Christ’s humility and holiness in our own lives — preparing our hearts not just for a celebration, but for transformation. Humble and Holy continues a centuries-old Christian tradition of setting aside time to prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birth and to anticipate his return.
Come, let us ready the way for the One who comes — full of grace, humble and holy.
Journey with the Faith community by engaging in weekend worship, mid-week worship, and daily devotional resources.
