Children and Family Ministries At Faith

Jesus said, " Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs."   Matthew 19:14-15

There's nothing more rewarding than helping young children know, love, and follow Jesus Christ. The Children's Ministries program at Faith helps children develop a basic faith belief system that enables them to follow Jesus and rely on God.  Children and Family Ministry ministers to families with children ages birth through fifth grade.

Mission: To teach God’s love to children and their families in a way that is educational and biblically sound, structured, exciting, and above all creates opportunity for the Holy Spirit to move in their hearts, so that they may live, proclaim and grow in their faith.

PastorDave_kids_web.jpgGood Friday Family-Friendly Worship Service

Ten years ago when I became a parent, I knew there would be big and small changes I would have to make in my life.  One of the little worship changes I discovered was my first Good Friday service as a mother. I brought my (then) four-month-old to the service thinking he would just cuddle and sleep while I worshipped. It was a very somber service as all Good Friday services should be, but during that service my baby discovered that squeals and cues made great echoing sounds in the sanctuary. All of which would have just been drowned out with the singing and worship in a normal Sunday morning service, but in a meditative and somber service of Good Friday it seemed amplified. As my children got older, I would chose to skip out on Good Friday because of the clash with bedtime routine for my toddlers. When they were in early elementary school I thought the time had come that I could return to Good Friday worship. Attending the worship service with early elementary children, I found that the teaching of the crucifixion was just a little too grown-up for my children right before bedtime. So I have been absent from Good Friday worship a good many times since becoming a parent. My guess is that many of you have found yourself in that same worship dilemma.

Well, now you can worship as a family at Faith with a newly added family-friendly Good Friday service at 5:30 p.m. Come and be part of the remembering of Christ’s death without being out late or sharing too much crucifixion information that your child may not be ready to hear. Our 4th and 5th grade Chime Choir will be our featured music for the evening. Join us for this important Holy Week celebration, and invite other families who may want to worship earlier rather than our normally offered 7:30 p.m. worship.
