Mission In Our Community
I
nterfaith Hospitality Network (IHN)
As a congregational member of the Interfaith Hospitality Network, Faith Lutheran hosts three to five families for one week every three months in a facility that we call the "Gathering House". In this capacity, Faith furnishes clean, safe overnight housing and meals for the families who stay with us.
Guest families are transported from the host congregation site to a day center where shower, laundry and social assistance is available to the families who turn to the IHN for assistance during tough times.

The Home Together Project
Faith Lutheran was an active participant in a project sponsored by ELCA Southeast Iowa Synod Conferences 10 and 11 called "Home Together". The Home Together project refreshed the physical property through basic remodeling at facilities at St. Joseph's Emergency Shelter and St. Paul's AME Church. This remodeling project created space for these shelters to provide services to families in dire need of emergency housing in a way that kept them together as a family.
The Beloit Youth Residential Treatment Center
A few years ago, Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) told us about some children in Ames, Iowa, who lived at the Beloit Residential Treatment center. They clearly displayed both their needs and LSI’s ability to address those needs if we were willing to help. We were willing. The result was a gift from the members of Faith greater than $180,000. Today, a wing of that treatment center bears our congregation’s name.
Faith continues to interact with the children at the facility through pen pal and prayer programs aimed at providing moral support to children who struggle with problems.
